Here at Sowood Pre-School we are lucky to employ a team of highly motivated and well trained staff. The children of a number of our staff attended Sowood Pre-School prior to starting their full time education.
Our Pre-School Leader Jo has been part of our setting since 2009. Jo holds a Diploma in Pre-School Practice, level 3, grade A. Jo regularly attends training courses to update and enhance her knowledge. Recent courses include Phonics in Early Years, Child Protection, First Aid, Medicine Management, Food Hygiene, Safeguarding Children. Jo is working towards her Foundation Degree.
Jen has been with the provision since September 2010 and holds an Early Years Foundation Degree and Level 6 Early Years Professional Status, Diploma in Early Years Education (NVQ Level 3), certificates in Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, Quality Learning Journeys, Safeguarding Children, Understanding & Responding to Children’s Behaviour Level 4. Jen is responsible for our Behaviour Management policy.
Sarah started in January 2013 and has completed her NVQ Level 3 and Food Hygiene. She joined us when her daughter attended Pre-School. Sarah is the Special Educational Needs Coordinator officer here at Sowood.
Claire joined us after having previously been a parent of a child who attended Sowood Pre-School. Claire has completed her NVQ Level 3, holds a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, Positive Behaviour Management Level 1 & 2, is responsible for Safeguarding Children (Lisa Parvaz, committee member oversees this work) and is a trustee for Calderdale Parents and Carers.
Linda has over 15 years experience working with children including 10 years with Pre-School Learning Alliance supporting children with additional needs. Linda who holds a Paediatric First Aid certificate has worked as a Peripatetic Nursery Assistant and joined our team as bank staff when her Grandson attended. More recently Linda has worked here as a Support Worker and Pre-School Assistant
- Preschool Assistant
Judith joined us in June 2017 to work as a 1:1 support worker for a child with additional needs. She stayed on at Preschool to work in small groups with the children doing activities around speech and language. She has worked in this area for a number of years and has her own children. She has completed her Paediatric First Aid Course and we look forward to her being part of our team.
- Tracy has been with Preschool since March 2016 as our Administrator. She came to us from a banking background but has had a variety of administrative roles. She has an NVQ level 2 & 3 in Business Administration and excellent customer service experience.
- Lunchtime Supervisor
Rachel joined us in December 2015 and looks after the kitchen over lunchtime, overseeing the delivery and serving of the hot meals. She also helps out in the preschool room if needed. She has a son who attended preschool before he started school full time.
